IBM Test 829 Preparation
No stories!
I am going to take Test 829: IBM WebShere Portal 6.0 Application Development in December and this page will grow with my day to day preparation details. I worked on WPS 5.1 for almost 1 year but later switched to a pure J2EE web application and had been working in it for around 8 months. At this juncture taking a portal certification itself is big that too 829. Anyway, let's see, even if i could reach it at the specified timeline, atleast i would have gathered a lot in Portal Sphere.
This is the link to the objectives http://www-03.ibm.com/certify/tests/objL829.shtml
As opposed to other certifications like Sun, Portal certifications do not have a single, big, fat exam guide. We need to resort to a bunch of materials and all are available online.
The objectives are briefly laid out below.
- Architecting a Portal Solution
- Install, Set up and Configure the Development Environment
- Write a portlet
- Backend Portlet Services
- Testing and Debugging a Portal Solution
- Additional Portlet Concepts
Today, 4 Novemeber 2008, i am starting the preparation. Here we go with the first topic, "Architecting a Portal Solution"
Given below are the points related to my exem 959 preparation. (There's a mistake on my part. I started to aim and prepare for 959 but i felt to start it with 829 as i have WPS 6 in my office. I also do feel that we need practical exposure before taking an exam. Hence i dropped 959 for time being). Those who are preparing for 829 may not see below, can skip this and go here.
First subtopic and may be the topic of the day, "Demonstrate familiarity WebSphere Portal Web 2.0 features".
